Sarah zahorodni

Violinist, violist, and composer Sarah Zahorodni (she/her) puts her whole heart into every artistic endeavor she pursues. Her holistic and passionate approach to creative collaboration and chamber music has shaped her multifaceted career as a performer, creator, and arts administrator.

Sarah is a founding member of Formas, an imaginative Boston-based string quartet that draws upon the musical traditions of jazz, western classical, and improvisation, and centers itself around innovative collaboration and the commissioning and premiering of new works.

Sarah has performed in a wide array of venues and spaces for local communities in the Boston and New England area, and has also toured internationally in Ukraine, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Italy. She has played in festivals both domestically and internationally, including the Decoda Skidmore Chamber Music Institute, Promisek Bach+ Festival, Credo Music Festival, the Global String Program at Berklee, International Music Festival of the Adriatic, and Music Adventure. She has also participated in master classes with Paul Kantor, Inrena Muresanu, Benjamin Klemme, Borromeo Quartet, Parker Quartet, Lee Trio, and Lionsgate Trio.

A passionate and versatile arts administrator, Sarah plays an integral role in the leadership teams of Antenna Cloud Farm Music Festival and the ACF Experimental Institute, both based in western Massachusetts, as well as New York’s Chelsea Music Festival.

Sarah has earned a M.M. in String Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a B.M. in Violin Performance with a minor in Innovation & Social Enterprise from Gordon College. Her primary teachers have included Katie Lansdale, Sarita Kwok, and Katalin Viszmeg.
